i second Fififi, most of the stuff in your gallery is not what you would call 'art'. This place is not for storing friends and family snaps. Sadly you are part of a growing trend where people are just using this site for snaps and very poor attempts at art where they've not considered at all :(.
Sorry to be a drag but there are plenty of other places where you could share these photos and this is not one of them.

what does it matter to you where i store my pics? i understand this is an art site, but origionally there was a family album section to this site. eventho that is nolonger a category, i dont understand why i should have to inconvenience myself and move ALL of my pictures to another site/category. i dont mean to be rude, but i also dont understand whats so wrong. my pictures do not offend ne body or anything. and its only been abt 3 people that have actually had a problem with my site! besides that ive gotten plenty of positive feedback from my photos. i dont understand why this is a problem. i appreciate art very much and am very sorry if my site offends those who post their art on here. but at the same time, this is rediculous

your whole gallery should be in 'scraps'
personal snapshots don't belong in art photography or photojournalism.
Art photography: "Art Photography is intended for Art-for-art's-sake"
Photojournalism: "Photojournalism gives us newsworthy photographs...
That's why the 'family album' section is gone, because the scraps section was made. Anything submitted to the photography > snapshots section (where all your photos should definitely be) are automatically put into scraps.
That way you won't be pissing off all people who put a great deal of effort and time into their art, and your family/friends wil still be able to view your photos.

eventho this is a delayed reaction to your comment, i have a few things to say. 1) i understand the family album section is gone, but when i 1st put my pictures on this site, that category was available. so, why should i inconvenience myself to move all of my pictures to a seperate section? 2ndly why in the hell should people get pissed abt what i put in my gallery? im not putting in any offensive material, so why should people care? honestly, if they care so much about what i put in my own gallery, then theyre just too damn immature.

everyone else could be bothered moving their stuff. Maybe if you can't be bothered goin through your gallery and making the changes that'll protect your pics from being deleted (for being in the wrong section) then it's a really, really clear sign you'r gallery is too big.
And even if you didn't want to move all the stuff you originally put in the family album section, you should put your new stuff in the right place, it's far easier to put stuff in scraps that to put it in photojournalism (one step instead of 3 or whatever it is)

It's not so much what you're putting in your own gallery, but what kind of refuse you're filling the site with.
The site is about sharing ART, not personal photos.
if you put stuff in scraps them your friends/family would still be able to see them, but the people here who don't give a fuck about your prom or your boyfriend or your friends pulling silly faces (which is everyone) don't have to see them on the front page and in the recent submissions, and they don't take up front page space that the actual -art- needs.
please be considerate.

i don't want to sound rude... but why exactly are you here on dA?
i'm not trying to turn you away or anything - you're welcome to be here - it just seems like you're using this as a snapshot gallery rather than being really involved in the community (whether it's putting up work to get critique, critiquing other people's work, or a combination of the two). i wonder if there are photo gallery sites that offer more of the services you'd be looking for.

or is it just the combination photogallery + livejournal + much more that you like?

haha, its ok that your questioning my wanting to be on this site- basically, I want a site where I can share my pictures from highschool with my friends and family...and yes, I do love the whole photogallery, journal, etc combo. It's a great site! besides, DA used to have a "family album" category, and even though they changed their rules, they still have a "photo journalism" category which I feel my pictures fall into b/c they "journal" my life and experiences. I don't know, it's just a great site and I do enjoy browsing through everyones works because I do truely appreciate art, and perhaps I'd include some of my own but I barely have time any more to draw, nor a scanner to submit my works with. But overall, DA is just a great site, and when I do get the chance, and when life starts to not be so hectic, I'll make my site more of an art gallery than a silly preppy girls picture site. But thanks for asking- I appreciate it when people are polite enought to kindly ask me what I'm doing here instead of autoatically cursing at me for it. :D
